This handy quick-reference tool is a two-sided, plastic, folding “pocket” guide designed to help police officers and emergency responders.

Side one provides general recommendations for emergency responders who may be the first on the scene of an emergency involving hazardous materials.

These recommendations are intended to prevent injury to the responder, to provide guidance in assessing the incident, and to assist in gathering information to be relayed to the dispatcher.

Side two provides color examples of the various hazardous materials placards and a short description of the individual hazards associated with the U.S. Department of Transportation hazard classes.
